STATEMENT: CE4A’s Andrew Reagan on SCOTUS Ruling in West Virginia v. EPA
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: June 30, 2022
(Washington, D.C.) – Today, the conservative Supreme Court gutted America’s power to combat climate change and endangered our clean energy future in a 6 to 3 decision in West Virginia v. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
In response, CE4A Executive Director Andrew Reagan released the following statement:
“The conservative majority of the Supreme Court sided with the financial interests of entrenched polluters and all but said American families should remain locked into using dirty, volatile fossil fuels, as gas prices rise and rise.
“This decision will hurt communities and consumers by making it harder for the U.S. to cut harmful pollution and harder to transition to clean energy sources that could power America’s families and workers to new heights, new jobs, and new savings.
“Congress must protect families, consumers, and workers and swiftly pass clean energy investments to avert the fiscal disaster this court’s ruling could unleash for the American people and our clean energy transition.”
