Clean Energy for America Statement on Pro-Oil CARS Act

(Washington, D.C.) – Last night, the House of Representatives passed the CARS Act, which would prevent the Environmental Protection Agency from implementing cost-saving emissions and pollution standards on light-duty vehicles and trucks. In response, CE4A Executive Director Andrew Reagan released the following statement:

"It’s disappointing to see Republicans in Congress once again attack job-creating, cost-saving, pollution-reducing efforts from the EPA in order to prop up the profits of their fossil fuel friends. They know EVs help Americans save at the gas pump, keeping money in the pockets of families rather than filling the coffers of oil companies.

“The EPA’s emissions standards also ensure the U.S. auto industry will continue to be a global leader in the auto industry for decades to come. Blocking those standards will yield our leadership, and our manufacturing jobs, to China. Congress should stand up for American consumers and American workers, not big oil and not China."
