Clean Energy for America Statement Urging GOP Against Further Political Games Around Shutdown

(Washington, D.C.) – Today, congressional leaders announced progress toward a short-term deal to avoid a partial shutdown of the federal government. In response, CE4A Executive Director Andrew Reagan released the following statement:

“It's positive news that House Republicans seem ready to join with Senate Democrats and the White House to avert a federal shutdown. However, the work isn't over. House Republicans should protect clean energy jobs in their districts by quickly moving to pass a year-long bipartisan funding deal that honors the existing funding levels agreement and abandons out-of-touch demands for harmful funding cuts and policy riders.

"America's communities cannot afford these political games from House Republicans, nor the resulting economic uncertainty that is hurting consumers, families and businesses. It's time for these legislators to do their jobs so that America's clean energy workers don’t have to worry about theirs."
