Clean Energy For America Statement on Donald Trump’s Billion-Dollar Promises to Big Oil Execs

Today, the Washington Post reported that former President Donald Trump asked oil CEOs “to steer $1 billion to his campaign” and that he “pledged to scrap President Biden’s policies on electric vehicles and wind energy, as well as other initiatives opposed by the fossil fuel industry.”

In response, CE4A Executive Director Andrew Reagan released the following statement:

“This is shocking conduct from former President Trump. It certainly looks like he is offering to sell out America’s clean energy workforce and naming his price too. It’s appalling. We cannot afford to hand over the future of clean energy manufacturing to foreign competitors, abandoning clean energy investments and therefore kicking America’s workers and companies out of the driver’s seat in the global race to decarbonization.

The transition to clean energy is happening everywhere, and our leaders must help us make sure it’s built here, in American factories and in American neighborhoods so that American workers and consumers benefit first and most. That’s why we remain committed to advancing clean, renewable energy solutions that bolster the economy and the clean energy workforce.

We reject Trump's attacks on clean energy and giveaways to Big Oil.”
