Clean Energy Spotlight: Samuel Pittman

This week's #cleanenergyspotlight is an entrepreneur and United States Air Force veteran. Meet Samuel Pittman, the chief executive officer of Norfolk-based Sunteque, LLC.

In the Air Force, Samuel was an aircraft engineer for flying fuel stations. After his service, he was a senior IT accounts manager with Naztec International Group.

At Sunteque, his team develops microgrids, battery storage, and EV charging projects for rural and urban neighborhoods. The goal? To “allow communities to generate their own power.”

The Community Microgrid Church Project, for example, allows “participating houses of worship” to “generate their own power, sell back excess generation to the grid and use battery backup systems.”

Pittman’s introduction to clean energy happened along the highway. “[I was] taking my mom to visit family in rural [North Carolina and Virginia], and noticed the beautiful fields of solar arrays. Never stopped pursuing it since that summer of 2021,” he told the Faces of Clean Energy program.

And to him, it’s clear why Congress should invest in clean energy jobs. “It brings a cleaner environment, economic opportunity within the transition and strengthens national Security with energy independence.”

Congratulations, Samuel!
