Clean Energy Spotlight: Khariell Pinkney
Ahead of #VeteransDay, this week's #CleanEnergySpotlight is Khariell Pinkney. The commercial manager at Recurrent Energy hails from Chicago, Illinois. He previously attended West Point, and after leaving the U.S. Army, he found his way to clean energy, where he’s worked for nearly half a decade.
At West Point, Khariell was on the boxing team and was pursuing a commission as an infantry officer — before a serious knee injury derailed his military career. With the help of a mentor, however, Khariell made his way into clean energy. He’s worked for Glidepath Power — which develops battery storage installations and wind farms. Now, he works for Recurrent Energy, which helps utilities build solar and storage projects. When asked why he thinks #cleanenergy is important, he explained it’s about national security — “We can't rely solely on fossil fuels for our power generation as society continues to expand.” — and it’s about financial security.
“Clean energy is creating a pathway for jobs in my community — not dissimilar to the car manufacturing boom. There are tons of opportunities to be trained at many levels within renewables. The future of renewable energy is bright, and I hope to continue working professionally for years to come.”Congratulations to Khariell and all of the veterans who power America’s clean energy transition.
