Our latest #cleanenergyspotlight is a strong leader and a proud mother of four. But first, do you know someone who should be celebrated for their #cleanenergy leadership? Add them to the comments below.

This week’s energy spotlight is Doreen Harris, the CEO of the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). NYSERDA is a public-benefit corporation that works to increase energy efficiency and reduce reliance on fossil fuels while using renewable energy.

With decades of experience in the clean energy industry and experience in both the public and private sectors, Doreen Harris is a great leader in New York’s transition to renewable energy. In her own words, Harris is “dedicated to green energy of all kinds.”

Doreen has been working at NYSERDA for more than 10 years in various roles ranging from executive to technical, to policy positions. Under her leadership, NYSERDA’s Large-Scale Renewables Team received the POWER Magazine Clean Energy Promoter award in 2020.

She is an enthusiastic advocate for the work she is doing. Speaking with WAMC Public Radio she said, “I firmly believe that no challenge poses a greater threat to our future than climate change. And no institution is better poised to meet that challenge head-on than NYSERDA.”

Doreen Harris is a dedicated public servant and a great advocate for the fulfillment that comes with working to advance clean energy.

“I enjoy the complexity and variety of work in my position and also the opportunity to be involved in efforts which impact New York State’s energy future. I work with an incredibly talented team of professionals at NYSERDA and benefit from the knowledge and insights I can glean from them.”
