Clean Energy Spotlight: Yann Brandt

This week's spotlight is Yann Brandt, the CFO of FlexGen. FlexGen is the country’s second-largest energy storage technology company. Rather than manufacturing batteries, FlexGen works to integrate them into the power grid while crafting software to reinforce their use. 

For many in the know in solar, Yann is a household name. He authors and publishes a daily newsletter, SolarWakeup. Ten years and more than 2,600 editions later, the newsletter is going strong and is read by many throughout the industry. In Brandt’s words, “Helping spread the gospel of solar and giving companies a voice in cheering on solar has been incredible.”

He got started in solar soon after graduating from Johns Hopkins University in 2005 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was a roofing contractor, and he saw the opportunity that solar provided. He went on to cofound Demeter power group and has worked for companies such as Conergy and Quick Mount PV.
