(Washington, D.C.) – Today, President Biden announced a ban on U.S. imports of Russian oil and gas. In response, CE4A’s Executive Director Andrew Reagan released the following statement:
“As Vladimir Putin continues to wield fossil fuels as a weapon, we support President Biden’s decision to ban imports of Russian oil and gas. However, the situation is also a reminder that American consumers are at the mercy of our dependence on fossil fuels, which are internationally priced. We can and must free the U.S. from volatile fossil fuels by swiftly transitioning to clean energy. We cannot drill our way out of dependence on a global commodity controlled in part by foreign nations and their leaders, including Putin. Rapidly increasing American clean energy manufacturing and production is the only way to achieve true energy independence and lower costs for consumers.”
