(Washington, D.C.) – Today, National Climate Advisor Gina McCarthy announced that she will step down from her role on September 16, 2022, after over four decades of public service.

In response, CE4A Executive Director Andrew Reagan released the following statement:

“Gina McCarthy has always been a staunch supporter of clean energy and a dynamic figure at the forefront of the fight against climate change. In over four decades of public service, spanning from Canton, Massachusetts, to Beacon Hill, to the EPA and most recently at the White House, she has driven progress and change to move us closer to the clean energy future we need and the American people want. We thank her for her service to the clean energy economy and her work driving federal action to tackle climate change.”

“The announcement that John Podesta will be joining the White House as Senior Advisor to the President for Clean Energy Innovation and Implementation is great news for clean energy and turning the Inflation Reduction Act into meaningful action. Congratulations to both John Podesta and Gina McCarthy.”
