RELEASE: CE4A Launches Digital Ads and Augmented-Reality Social Campaign to Stop GOP Attacks on Clean Energy Provisions of the Inflation Reduction Act
(Washington, D.C.) – Today, Clean Energy for America (CE4A) launched a two-pronged digital campaign to oppose Republican lawmakers’ plan to repeal job-creating clean-energy investments in the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). CE4A’s push includes a five-figure digital ad buy, which starts this week, and a social media campaign, called “Destination Clean Energy,” which starts next week.
Earlier this month, GOP lawmakers put forward a scheme that threatened national economic calamity via default unless the U.S. agrees to drastic spending cuts across the board and a repeal of the IRA’s clean energy investments
“The fact that Congressional Republicans are engaging in brinkmanship with the nation’s economic security while also attempting to defund thousands of good-paying domestic clean energy jobs is completely irresponsible. Our campaign is meant to be a reminder to lawmakers that the American people want jobs, energy savings, and economic certainty. Congress can — and should — raise the debt ceiling without conditions and without eroding the IRA’s investments.” said Andrew Reagan, executive director of Clean Energy for America.
Starting today, CE4A’s five-figure digital ad buy is directed at three Republican members of Congress — Nancy Mace (SC-01), Jen Kiggans (VA-02) and Mike Lawler (NY-17). Each voted for the House Republican debt ceiling bill that repeals clean energy investments from the Inflation Reduction Act, even though their districts are home to large populations of clean energy workers.
Then, starting on Tuesday, May 30, CE4A’s social media push will begin. Called “Destination Clean Energy,” the campaign will direct people to use a custom filter via Instagram and Facebook to turn pictures of clean energy into a postcard that can be shared with their elected officials. The goal is to highlight the benefits of the IRA being delivered across the country.
The digital ads will run in the crucial days ahead of the debt limit deadline. The augmented-reality postcard social campaign will run through the summer.
