Clean Energy For America Calls For SCOTUS Nominee That Will Uphold
Environment and Clean Energy Protections
(Washington, D.C.) – With U.S. Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer announcing his impending retirement, CE4A’s Executive Director Andrew Reagan released the following statement:
“We urge President Biden to ensure his nominee to replace the retiring Justice Stephen Breyer will uphold clean energy and environmental protections.
“There are interests opposed to America’s clean energy future who are seeking to stop or reverse progress through the courts, and if they are successful, the United States could be hampered in enacting policies that promote clean energy and energy efficiency deployment; clean transit and transportation; affordable and sustainable housing; training and workforce development; remediation and reduction of legacy pollution; and development of critical clean water infrastructure. These policies are important for our health and our economy, and we urge the president to ensure his nominee firmly agrees it is within the power of the federal government and the executive branch to act on them.
“We look forward to President Biden’s nomination and call on the Senate to move swiftly to a confirmation vote.”
