Clean Energy for America Statement on Donald Trump Mocking U.S. Solar Power, Businesses, Workers
WASHINGTON, DC — Yesterday, Donald Trump, the former president, mocked U.S. solar power at a campaign event in Miami, Florida. In response, CE4A Executive Director Andrew Reagan provided the following statement:
“It’s shocking how the former president continues to search and find new ways to insult large swaths of the electorate as Election Day nears. Nearly 3.5 million people work in clean energy in the U.S. And the former president mocked each of them by demeaning solar power, its workers, its companies, and its customers. Sadly, it’s not surprising: Trump promised oil and gas executives he would kill clean energy jobs in exchange for a billion dollar campaign donation. , And big oil lobbyists are writing executive orders for him to sign on day one. It’s wrong.
“Trump called U.S. clean energy workers and businesses ‘just terrible.’ But that phrase applies better to what he’s doing when he demeans hard working Americans. It’s just terrible.”
