“Spotlight: Latinxs in Sustainability”
Hi CE4A community,
Latinxs in Sustainability (LiS) is excited to introduce ourselves and share our updated website with you! For those of you who may be less familiar, LiS is a collective aiming to unite Latinx-identifying professionals and students in the sustainability field. We work to dismantle the structural barriers that have hindered Latinx representation in the environmental movement and champion inclusive and accessible career pathways for our Latinx communities. On an individual level, we provide Latinx climate leaders with the resources, awareness, and opportunities they need to thrive in their personal and professional journeys, thus becoming agents of change for their communities and beyond. Among our member base, these opportunities take the form of networking, mentorship, knowledge sharing, professional development, and community building.
Since our founding in 2017, we have grown our Leadership Team to 5 (read more about us here!), expanded our reach to over 2,500 members, elevated the voices of more than 50 Latinx professionals, and hosted nearly 40 events. In the last year alone, we launched our Professional Development Stipend and Inclusive Mentorship Program, and also expanded our outreach to California. In 2023, we are launching a new workforce development program with the City College of New York to benefit our local NYC community. Check out our website to learn more about our programs!
A key focus for us this year is our partnership offerings to drive value to our member base and support our continued growth. We are particularly interested in collaborating with corporate sponsors, you can check out our various offerings on our site here. Are you an employer interested in partnering with us or learning more about LiS? Please reach out to Melina Acevedo, Partnerships Lead, at melina@latinxsinsustainability.org to kick off the coversation. We would also love to hear from other similar mission-aligned nonprofits to discuss how we can support each other.
Thank you for your support and be sure to register for our newsletter here to stay updated on our progress!
Sincerely,
Melina Acevedo and the LiS Team
