Clean Energy Spotlight: Adrienne Pierce

As part of #WomensHistoryMonth, this week’s #cleanenergyspotlight is a woman on a mission and one of our #facesofcleanenergy. Meet CEO of New Sun Road, Adrienne Pierce, who has dedicated the last ten years to working in the climate and solar energy sectors.

Pierce's passion for #cleanenergy started in the 8th grade. To prepare for a science fair, she read her dad's Popular Mechanics magazines, and found herself quickly engrossed by the articles on solar energy. But it wasn't until she had spent two years serving in the Peace Corp in Gabon, Africa, that she realized how often essentials like clean energy and water become luxury commodities for too many.

Today, as the CEO of New Sun Road, Pierce is expanding access to solar-powered microgrids, the small, local power systems that can power homes and businesses without having to tap into regional utility power networks. Her company sells software and smart devices that make it easier to manage one or several microgrids.

Prior to becoming CEO of New Sun Road, Pierce worked as a Strategic Advisor for Yellow Tin, a software company.

Pierce is proud to advance environmental justice and lift up tribal and rural communities.

For her, protecting the environment “always made common sense.” "We learn early on to clean up our messes, and why that doesn't extend beyond our bedrooms has always been a mystery to me," she said. That's why she's calling on Congress to curb fossil fuel pollution and prioritize “training and investing in a clean energy economy that rebuilds our infrastructure for a more sustainable future and mitigates climate change.”

With leaders like her at the helm, there's no doubt that we're on our way to building a brighter, cleaner, and more sustainable future. Thank you, Adrienne, and congratulations on being this week's #cleanenergyspotlight.
