Clean Energy Spotlight: Tim Hade
This week's #cleanenergyspotlight is a veteran who is bolstering Americans’ energy security. Tim Hade is chief development officer of Scale Microgrids, and he’s been a leader in the industry for more than a decade.
Before, he served in the Air Force as an officer after graduating from the Air Force Academy. And it’s there he got interested in clean energy and climate. “I first got interested in climate through my work in the Department of Defense,” he told CE4AEF’s #FacesofCleanEnergy program. “DoD has identified climate change as a major threat to national security for decades.”
Now, he helps advance energy security at Scale Microgrids, which builds and invests in the world’s most cutting-edge distributed energy solutions that allow large energy consuming businesses to meet their power needs without having to rely (entirely or at all) on the public grid.
“You think about how people have always received electricity and it’s been from a powerplant that’s a few hundred miles away…a microgrid is taking that electricity generation and making it locally,” he told the @verticalfarmingpodcast podcast earlier this year.
To him, #cleanenergy also means economic security.
“In addition to generating a ton of high quality/high paying jobs that people can feel good about doing, the clean energy movement is giving us cleaner air/water, and cheaper/more reliable energy,” he told CE4AEF. “More broadly, clean energy positions the U.S. to compete in the 21st century global economy.”
Congratulations, Tim, and thank you for defending American security through clean energy.
