Clean Energy Spotlight: Jonathon Monken

This week's #cleanenergy spotlight is an energy security and resilience expert, who works to protect our nation's frontiers and rapidly growing energy investments. Meet Jonathon Moken, Principal at Converge Strategies, LLC and Major serving in the U.S. Army Reserves, supporting the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. He’s also one of our Faces of Clean Energy.

Converge Strategies is a consulting firm that works with civilian and military partners to develop and “deploy energy resilience technologies and to create strategies and programs that strengthen energy assurance and critical civilian infrastructure.” Monken works with a variety of partners from both state and local governments, to private sector and military partners, offering 20 years of expertise from working within the “national security, emergency preparedness, risk management, and energy resilience planning spheres.”

Previously, Monken served as the Senior Director of System Resilience and Strategic Coordination for PJM Interconnection, the largest grid operator in North America. There, he worked “within the areas of business continuity, physical and cyber security, risk management and resilience planning.”

In a big way, his work has centered around promoting clean energy security.

“It's really about understanding the fact that there are circumstances beyond [one’s] control… that can disrupt the system, and resilience is really about your elasticity,” Monken told Sara Baldwin of “Electrify This!” podcast.

Congratulations, Jonathon, and thank you for working to protect our nation and helping to advance sustainability for a safer and more resilient clean energy future.
