Clean Energy Spotlight: Leslie Maldonado
This week’s #cleanenergyspotlight is Leslie Maldonado, a completions engineer at Fervo Energy.
Headquartered in Houston, Texas, Fervo is a geothermal developer. Often, the company adapts technologies from oil and gas, such as horizontal drilling, to produce clean, renewable, and always-on geothermal power. This includes their latest breakthrough — reported in Canary Media, Bloomberg, and more — that expands the geography for geothermal projects.
Like these techniques, Maldonado also comes from the fossil fuel industry. Before joining Fervo, Maldonando worked in oil and gas, as a technical sales engineer at Tenaris, a pipe supplier for oil and gas projects. She shifted to clean energy, as she explained to the Faces of Clean Energy project, “to take part in environmental responsibility, not only from an individual standpoint, but with an organization with similar values [as Fervo Energy].”
“[T]he ability to implement oil and gas industry practices to the geothermal industry is an innovation that will increase the accessibility and resources available to both the renewable and non-renewable sectors.”
It’s why Maldonado believes Congress should support clean energy. “Increased investment in clean energy provides the green sector with the opportunity to further develop its potential as well, especially in a time where there is a large drive to increase the use of clean energy,” she said.
Congratulations, and thank you, Leslie, for advancing the power of geothermal energy.
