500+ Clean Energy Business Leaders, Entrepreneurs & Investors Across the U.S. Urge Congress to Include Bold Clean Energy Investments in Build Back Better Act
(Washington, DC) – More than 500 clean energy business leaders, entrepreneurs, and investors across the United States sent letters to Congress in the past two weeks making the business case for clean energy investments. In these letters, organized by Clean Energy for America (CE4A), the signers urge Congress to pass President Biden’s Build Back Better Act with bold investments in the clean energy economy to create more jobs, lower energy costs, and combat the climate crisis. These letters came from a diverse range of signers in Arizona, California, Florida, Hawaii, Kansas, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Texas, and Washington all urging Congress to make these bold investments to help reach the nation’s climate goals and grow their state’s clean energy industry.
In addition, a national letter was signed by a diverse cross-section of clean energy sector business owners from 34 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico who are responsible for creating tens of thousands of jobs. Signers include clean energy investors like Tom Steyer, Rob Day, and Melissa Cheong, who collectively represent billions of dollars in investments.
“Right now, Congress has an unprecedented opportunity to make investments in the clean energy economy that will create millions of jobs, provide communities with cleaner air and lower utility bills, and tackle the existential threat of climate change,” said letter signer Billy Parish, CEO of Mosaic, Inc. “President Biden has laid out an ambitious clean energy agenda that will be a massive boon to our economy— that is why it is both popular and urgently needed. We call on Congress to see the momentum the clean energy industry already has, listen to our calls for further investment, and act to make the US the clean energy leader it can and should be.”
These letters come at a pivotal moment as Congress hotly debates historic investments in clean energy through the reconciliation and infrastructure packages. The signers recognize the necessity of making big and bold clean energy investments since many communities in these states have already begun to feel the effects of the climate crisis— with more extreme weather, droughts, and wildfires.
Signers of the letters are available for comment.
