Washington D.C. — Today, in response to a letter from 38 House Republicans calling for a full repeal of the energy tax credits, Clean Energy for America President Andrew Reagan issued the following statement:

“Energy tax credits have driven more than $600 billion in private investment, created more than 270,000 jobs, and have lowered electricity bills for families and businesses across the country,” said Andrew Reagan, President of Clean Energy for America. “Repealing or cutting these clean energy tax credits would jeopardize all of this progress—it means losing the hundreds of thousands of jobs these credits have already created, and also losing the more than 700,000 jobs these credits are expected to create. This policy is harmful–it would move us away from, not closer to, American energy dominance and affordability.”

These energy tax credits are creating hundreds of thousands of jobs and generating major economic growth in communities across the country, including spurring a significant investment boom in many Republican-led districts. At a time when Americans are struggling with high electricity costs, clean energy tax credits are already providing relief for households and businesses. If repealed, household electricity bills would cumulatively increase by $32 billion from 2025 to 2035.
