(Washington, D.C.) – Today, the U.S. Department of Commerce issued a preliminary ruling calling for tariffs to be placed on imported solar panels and solar panel components from four Southeast Asian countries. The tariffs would not take effect for two years due to a moratorium issued by President Joe Biden earlier this year. In response, Clean Energy for America’s (CE4A) Executive Director Andrew Reagan made the following statement:

“Today’s decision by the Commerce Department only underscores the urgent need to rapidly increase supplies of solar equipment in the U.S. and lean into domestic manufacturing of solar components. Our clean energy future will deliver manufacturing jobs and lower-cost energy for our homes, schools and businesses. With the clean energy and climate investments in the recently passed Inflation Reduction Act and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, President Biden has us on course to accelerate the transition to clean energy for America.”
