Washington, D.C. — In the dead of night, the Senate released updated bill text for their “One Big Beautiful Bill.” Senate Republicans made a bad bill even worse, pushing for new policies that will raise energy costs for families and ship American jobs overseas.

“The Senate bill is an outright attack on American energy,” said Andrew Reagan, President of Clean Energy for America. “Senate Republicans are pushing a tax on energy that would raise prices for everyone. If this bill passes, thousands of Americans will lose their jobs, and everyone will have to pay more for electricity.”

“The ‘One Big Beautiful Bill Act’ should be called the ‘Inflation Creation Act.’ It is a full-on surrender to our adversaries like China. At a time of skyrocketing energy demand, Republicans are proposing to kill entire industries like solar, wind, and storage. Anyone who votes for this bill is voting to kill jobs and raise costs on hardworking Americans.”

Across the country, nearly 3.5 millionAmericans work every day to deliver clean energy to the grid. In 2023 alone, clean energy companies added more than 150,000 jobs to the market, with every sector of the clean energy economy growing at least twice as fast as overall national employment. Clean energy tax credits have ushered in historic investments to counties across the country, particularly in Republican-held districts, generating more than $840 billion in total investments.

If repealed, the incredible momentum of the clean energy industry would come to a grinding halt, leaving hundreds of billions in potential investments on the table and eliminating thousands of good-paying jobs across the country.
