Washington D.C. — In an exclusive letter to Politico, 21 House Republicans, led by Rep. Andrew Garbarino (R-NY), defended the energy tax credits that have brought billions of dollars in new investments to their districts. These lawmakers warned that repealing or cutting investments would upend major energy projects, hurting local economies and hiking up energy costs for families.
Since the passage of these energy tax credits, Republican-controlled districts across the country have enjoyed a $130 billion investment boom. These life changing investments have lowered energy bills for households, spurred local economic growth, created thousands of good paying jobs, and strengthened America’s energy security.
In response to the letter, Clean Energy for America President Andrew Reagan said the following:
“Across America, energy tax credits have transformed local economies—creating thousands of jobs, lowering energy costs, revitalizing American manufacturing, and securing America’s energy dominance. These House Republicans understand that repealing them would immediately raise costs for Americans nationwide—straining the pocketbooks of families across the country. Protecting these investments isn’t a partisan issue—they benefit both Republican and Democratic districts. By defending energy tax credits, these lawmakers are putting their constituents first and ensuring lower bills, economic growth, and a stronger energy future for all.”

Politico: House Republican support grows for keeping clean energy tax breaks
“A growing number of House Republicans are urging the party to preserve the clean energy tax credits in Democrats’ climate law — and warning they may oppose the party’s budget bill if those incentives get axed.
“In a letter shared exclusively with POLITICO, 21 House Republicans — whose districts have drawn billions in new investments because of the Inflation Reduction Act incentives — said developing clean energy was critical for the U.S. to meet President Donald Trump’s goal of becoming “energy dominant.” And they threatened to resist their colleagues’ efforts to gut the law to help pay for a small fraction of the GOP’s multi-trillion-dollar tax-cut package.
“‘We have 20-plus members saying, ‘Don’t just think you can repeal these things and have our support,’’ said Rep. Andrew Garbarino (R-N.Y.), who organized the letter.”
