Washington, D.C. — Today, Republicans in the House of Representatives passed their budget reconciliation bill, that would gut vital energy tax credits and effectively roll back a major industrial revival in the United States. The bill pushes America further away from energy dominance, stifles innovation, and undercuts our global competitiveness.

The bill that passed out of the House would upend a major clean energy boom in the United States: killing nearly 300,000 American jobs, causing increasing electricity bills for families and businesses by $51 billion, and ceding America’s leadership in innovation in energy, AI, and other technologies to China.

In response to the House passage of the GOP budget reconciliation bill, President of Clean Energy for America Andrew Reagan released the following statement:

“Today, the House passed a bill that guts the very investments driving America forward—toward lower energy costs, hundreds of thousands of good-paying jobs, American energy dominance, and innovation.

“This bill threatens the clean energy industry at a time when it’s proving to be not only economically beneficial—lowering costs, creating jobs, and fueling local economies—but also essential to America’s energy future. Without these investments, we risk falling short of growing energy demand and abandoning our global leadership in technology and innovation. We cannot afford to cede the AI race to China or fall behind in building the energy infrastructure of tomorrow.

“If America wants to lead, not lag, the Senate must make changes to the House bill and protect the clean energy investments that are helping American families by lowering costs, creating jobs, and driving American innovation.”
